Impressed with Indian govt’s Covid-19 handling, migrants from Pakistan don’t want to go back – Indian Defence Research Wing

Migrants from Pakistan, who are stranded in India due to the coronavirus lockdown, don’t want to go back to their country after seeing how the Indian government and people are fighting the Covid-19 outbreak. They said it’s very difficult for minorities to live in Pakistan. “It is very difficult for minorities to live in Pakistan. After seeing how the Indian Government and people are fighting against Coronavirus, we’ve reached to decision that staying in India will be good for us and our children,” said Arjun,  one of the migrants from Pakistan.

The group of migrants had come to Ahmedabad a few days before the lockdown, now they don’t want to go back to Pakistan as they want to stay in India for a better future of their children.

“I reached here a few days before lockdown. The administration here took good care of us, I want to stay here for a better future of my children,” said another migrant Mala Parmar.

Pak’s Covid-19 tally nears 50,000 mark

The total number of positive cases of the novel coronavirus in Pakistan has reached 49,530 with 17,382 cases in Punjab, 19,924 in Sindh, 7,155 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 3,074 in Balochistan, 602 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 1,235 in Islamabad. The pandemic has claimed at least 1,052 lives while at least 14,155 coronavirus patients have recovered.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been under fire over mismanagement of Covid-19 handling since the virus outbreak due to poor healthcare facilities in the country.

Earlier, authorities at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zaid Combined Military Hospital in Muzaffarabad complained of receiving personal protective equipment (PPEs) which were already used, with some of them stained with betel leaf.

CAA gives hope to Pak minorities

On December 14, 2019, President Kovind signed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 into Act, a day after it was passed in Parliament.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act will grant Indian citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Parsis, Buddhists, Jains from three neighbouring countries – Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan – who fled their respective countries and came to India before December 31, 2014, due to religious persecution.
