Indian navy force might want to procure 24 MH-60R Seahawk helicopters from the US-based Lockheed Martin’s Sikorsky Company. Sources in the Indian Defense Ministry said that the new obtaining would come as a swap for the maturing Sea King helicopters.
As of now, the Indian Navy utilizes Chetak Helicopters. The scope of Chetak’s is restricted to a range of around 10 km, regardless of whether from shore or from any drifting stage.
The Seahawks can work for long ranges both from shores and sends and can arrive on the trip on any Indian maritime ship, be it corvettes or guided-rocket destroyers.
