Azad Engineering Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based precision engineering market leader, has been approved as India’s first company to supply critical rotating parts for nuclear turbines.
The company has delivered its first set of critical parts. These will now be assembled on nuclear turbines manufactured in Belfort, France.
Azad Engineering has signed a long-term supply agreement with General Electric (GE) Steam Power for the supply of nuclear turbine parts. This, according to the company, opens up a very large supply opportunity.
“We are very proud and delighted to announce that we are the first and only Indian company to be certified for nuclear parts. We have also signed a long-term agreement with GE Steam Power to manufacture critical rotating parts for nuclear turbines in one of the harshest environments,” said Rakesh Chopdar, who heads Azad Engineering.
“We believe this will propel us further towards our five-year plan for tenfold growth,” he said.
GE Steam Power says it offers a broad portfolio of power plant technologies and services, helping customers deliver reliable power as they transition to a low-carbon future.
The world is rapidly moving towards power generation from green and clean energy sources with zero emissions. Today, nuclear energy is one of the most cost-effective and cleanest sources of zero-carbon electricity. It is one of the best available alternatives to coal-fired power plants.
Azad Engineering, an end-to-end solutions provider, says it plans to deepen its relationship as a preferred partner and continue to enjoy the flagship position with a new installation coming in the next 18-24 months .
