Despite repositioning of the Labour Party’s stand on Kashmir issue by party head Sir Keir Starmer in bid to woo Indian voters, top politicians attended Pakistan-backed anti-India webinar called by Kashmiri separatists based in the United Kingdom. The virtual conference was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Self Determination Movement International (JKSDMI) and was led by Chairman Raja Najabat Hussain.

Debbie Abrahams, who is a member of Parliament from Oldham East and Saddleworth constituency and shares a close bond with the Pakistan-backed Raja Najabat Hussain was one of the speakers.

Debbie Abrahams was denied entry to India and deported to Dubai

In February this year, her Indian visa was rejected by the Indian authorities. Abrahams who chairs a UK parliamentary group focused on Kashmir is a vocal critic of the Narendra Modi government’s decision to revoke Article 370 that granted special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Debbie ’s visa was revoked as government authorities had strong reasons to believe that she had links with individuals and outfits working for Pakistan’s spy agency, ISI, to run anti-India propaganda.

After her deportation from New Delhi, she visited Pakistan, where she was treated like a state guest. Fawad Hussain Chaudhary, Pakistan’s Science and Technology minister, was one of the speakers.

After Debbie, other Labour Party politicians who attended the conference included Yasmin Qureshi, Pakistan born Labour MP for Bolton South East, Afzal Khan, Pakistan-born MP for Manchester Gorton, and Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Britain’s first Sikh MP.

Dhesi who was appointed Shadow Minister for Railway by leader Sir Keir Starmer in April 2020 is known for his pro-Pakistani stance on Kashmir.

When terror group JKLF gave unconditional support to the Labour Party

During the December 2019 elections, the Labour Party had received unconditional support from Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) UK. The JKLF, a terror group which is banned in India was one of the first groups to launch Pakistan-backed terrorism in Kashmir in the late 1980s, targeting the ethnic minority of Kashmiri Pandits and other civilians.

In September 2019, Labour Party had passed an emergency motion on Kashmir urging party leader Jeremy Corbyn to seek international observers to ‘enter’ the region and demand the right of self-determination for its people.

However, the move boomeranged as the Indian diaspora sided with the Tories thereby playing an instrumental role in their landslide victory.
