‘Home-grown’ terror theory and ‘alienation’ cover propounded by the pro-Pakistan lobby, back home, has lost its one and only poll plank in Kashmir. Busting this theory, Director General of J&K Police Dilbagh Singh, openly named and shamed Pakistan Army and its spy agency ISI of being solely responsible for managing and manoeuvring terror into Jammu and Kashmir.

While responding to a Times Now question during a media interaction, DGP Dilbagh Singh said that apart from ISI, Pakistan Army is involved in a big way in aiding and abetting terror. “All launching pads along IB and LoC are manned by Pakistan Army. We and our agencies are having complete list of that,” added the DGP.

Outfits like TRF launched to give indigenous colour to Pak-sponsored terror in Kashmir

On the launch of new outfits like Tehreek Resistance Front (TRF), Dilbagh Singh described the same as an attempt to give Pakistan-sponsored terrorism a home-grown and local colour. Elaborating on it, he said that outfits like TRF are basically proxies of Lashkar and Jaish. Giving new names to terror fronts was an operation of camouflage to mislead the world that Pakistan has nothing to do with terrorism in Kashmir, he explained.  “Reality on the ground is that terrorism in J-K is financed and sponsored by Pakistan,” reiterated Singh.

Operation wipe-out terror

Lauding the role of Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces, Dilbagh Singh said that 22 terrorists, including six top commanders, have been eliminated in last two weeks in nine different operations in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh said of which nine Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terrorists were killed in the last two days in Shopian district of South Kashmir only.

Further giving details, the DGP said that since January 1, 88 terrorists have been neutralised during 36 operations conducted by security forces. Besides this, he said that 240 overground workers have also been arrested. “They were the one who were providing terrorists logistic support, instigating people to create law and order problem, play the role of obstructionist during encounters,” added Singh.

Intel inputs suggest Jaish’s fabrication of more IED’s

Giving details about the sinister plot of Pakistan-sponsored Jaish-e-Muhammad to carry out an attack of bigger magnitude, Singh said that they have inputs that Jaish operatives were fabricating more IEDs. “Both our counter-terror and counter-infiltration grid has to stay alert. We have reports that JeM terrorists who are commanded by Pak agencies are developing more IEDs. We have alerted all our forces to thwart their nefarious design,” he added.

Explaining desperation on the part of Pakistan to push in more terrorists into the Indian side, DGP said, it is the first time that launching pads maintained by Pakistan were active during winter. “They did not wind up. The first terrorist group infiltrated in Keran sector on March 31. But our alert troops killed all of them,” said J-K Police chief.

Responding to a question on the number of terrorists at launch pads along the Line of Control (LoC), Singh said: “There is an assessment that the number could be around 150-250 for Kashmir region and 125-150 for Jammu region.”

News positive: Very few joined terror ranks this year

The police chief, while responding to Times Now question said that a very significant low number of youth have joined terror ranks this year and most of them have already been neutralised.  He said the year was a very successful year as far as counter-terror operations are concerned.  During the year, he said they were able to break backbone of terror-related activities.

‘’People appreciated our role post abrogation of Article 370. We ensured that no one was harassed and same was appreciated by people at large. This has contributed in many ways. A very significant low number of terrorists have joined terrorist ranks this year. A large number of them have been neutralised already,” he added.
