There is a presence of around 250-300 terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) waiting to infiltrate Indian territory from the other side of the border, confirmed Major General Virendra Vats on Saturday. His media brief came hours after Indian security forces neutralised two terrorists in Nougam sector.

When asked about the present status of infiltration along the LoC, Major General Virendra Vats, GOC 19 Infantry Division, Baramullah, said, “Inputs indicate that their launchpads are fully occupied. If we’ve to guess, it could be anything between 250-300 terrorists presently occupying the launchpads opposite.”

Briefing media about today’s encounter with terrorists, the Major General said, “Today, our troops along LoC in Nougam sector detected suspicious movement originating from Pakistani Post in the area. Apt response was taken to eliminate two terrorists who were trying to infiltrate by cutting anti-infiltration fence.”

“Recoveries from the slain terrorists include two AK assault rifles with 12 filled magazines, a pistol, magazines, some grenades. We have also recovered about 1.5 lakhs in Indian and Pakistani currency. A search operation is still underway in the area to sanitise,” added Major General Virendra Vats.
