The website of Director-General of Public Relations of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) was hacked with “we want freedom from Pakistan” message. In a message posted on the website, the Imran Khan administration has been accused of human rights violation.

The official government website says: “Awaam of Azad J&K seeks independence from Pakistan”. “Awaam of Azad Jammu and Kashmir seek independence from Pakistan. Pakistan Army and police are involved in mass-scale human rights violations, atrocities on innocent civilians and spreading terrorism. We strongly condemn Pakistani rulers for the discriminatory policies and misrule in Azad Jammu and Kashmir for the past 70 years,” the message reads.

Another message on the website is regarding the downed Pakistani F-16 fighter jet.

“PAK Airforce F-16 shot by IAF last February is a dark secret Government of Pakistan has been keeping from its people. We pay respect to the family of the killed Pilot and soon the truth shall come out,” the message reads.

‘We want Azaadi’

An exiled leader from Pakistan occupied Kashmir Sardar Shaukat Ali Kashmiri had recently accused Pakistan of not respecting and honouring the right to self-determination of people of PoK.

“In 1947, the legitimate ruler of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir wanted independence but Pakistan did not respect and honour the right to self-determination of people. On October 22, 1947, it invaded Jammu and Kashmir which resulted in forced division and destruction that continues till date,” he said.

Anti-Pakistan protests are not uncommon in PoK. In 2018, a series of protests broke out in at least two places in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) over the rise in the activities of Islamabad-backed terrorist outfits in the region.

The local anger is over the continued shelter, training and arming of terrorist groups by the Pakistani military establishment.

Accusing Pakistan’s military-intelligence establishment of sabotaging their struggle for Kashmiri independence, the locals expressed their anger over the government sheltering, training and arming terrorist groups.

‘Go Niazi Go back; Kashmir banega Hindustan’

Last year in September, Imran Khan was humiliated after people in PoK’s Muzaffarabad greeted him with chants of “Go Niazi Go Back” and “Kashmir banega Hindustan”.

Khan was on an official visit to Muzzafarabad to address Kashmir “solidarity” rally to highlight the “plight” of Kashmiris and to send a message to the world community about clampdown in the Valley.

Before Khan’s visit, large-scale protests erupted in PoK over atrocities and human rights violations committed by the Pakistani Army.

Talking to ANI, an angry protester said, “Pakistan says that India is committing human rights violations in Kashmir. But what is the establishment itself doing here? Just see. This is the actual human rights violation.”
