Hurriyat sold Pakistan MBBS seats for Rs 10-20 lakh to influential families in Jammu and Kashmir – Indian Defence Research Wing

It has been long reported that Pakistan has been giving money to Hurriyat leaders for fomenting trouble in Kashmir. Now, it has been found that for several years, Hurriyat and separatists have been earning huge money by recommending children of influential people for admission in the medical colleges in the hostile neighbouring state.

The ‘reserved’ MBBS seats which were offered in Pakistan were meant for the orphans, whose parents have been killed in the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. However, it has been revealed that separatists sold the seats reserved for the orphans for Rs 10 lakh to 20 lakhs. Reports say that the Hurriyat allegedly used to take money and from bureaucrats, top police officers and other influential people and send the recommendation letter to Pakistan so that the children of these affluent families could easily get admission into medical colleges.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has accessed various recommendation letters by separatists for Pakistani visas for students from Jammu and Kashmir. The premier investigating agency had earlier warned against the recommendations of separatists, saying that it was another way for funding of terror groups.

The probe agency had earlier claimed that the visa applications were recommended to the Pakistani high commission in India by various Hurriyat leaders, including Geelani.

Syed Ali Shah Gilani’s resignation from the Hurriyat faction has opened a can of worms. The successor of Geelani had alleged that the rival faction of the separatist outfit was selling seats to professional courses in Pakistan.

The NIA had unearthed the scam that involves the nexus between students, Pakistan High Commission officials and separatists in the Valley two years back. The NIA in its charge sheet had alleged that the students going for the MBBS courses were ‘either relative of ex-militants or relatives of families of active militants’.

The NIA has alleged that the money received from the influential was routed to fund terrorism in the Valley.

While red-flagging the authorities abut the nexus between terrorists, the Hurriyat and the Pakistan establishment, the NIA had said, “the three vertices and they are ostensibly patronising the Kashmir students in order to prepare a generation of doctors and technocrats in Kashmir who will have leanings towards Pakistan”.
