A Kargil war-retired Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 fighter aircraft, installed at the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus, was found listed on OLX for sale at a price of Rs 9.99 crore. As soon as the information started spreading on social media, the OLX ad, selling MiG-23 aircraft, was removed from the website.
On the OLX website, the advertisement showed a picture of the MiG-23BN fighter aircraft, its sale price, and a three-word description, ‘best fighter plane’. The fighter aircraft was gifted to the Aligarh Muslim University by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in 2009. The university has ordered a probe to find out who created the advertisement on OLX.
Speaking to news agency ANI, the AMU proctor has alleged that it was an attempt to defame the university. The university has also said it would take legal action against the person(s) who created the advertisement on OLX.”The post on OLX about the sale of aircraft installed in the campus is wrong.
