Tata Aerospace & Defense was recognized on Friday by The Boeing Company (Boeing) with the coveted ‘Supplier of the Year’ award. The Indian company was among nine suppliers that were awarded out of more than 11,000 Boeing suppliers worldwide.
“The award is given to a supplier who contributes to Boeing’s success by sharing risk and through long-term relationships that support and advance our strategic goals,” Boeing said.
In a Friday press release, Boeing said that, for the first time, it is also recognizing companies for “proactively managing the quality, readiness and health of the supply chain and delivering on Boeing’s commitment to advancing global sustainability”.
According to a Boeing press release, the award categories are: Supplier Diversity, Outstanding Performance, Alliance, Pathfinder, Supply Chain Visibility, Collaboration, Sustainability, Risk Management, and Support and Services. For the first time, a Sustainability Supplier of the Year was awarded to demonstrate the importance of collaboration in driving sustainability throughout the supply chain.
“Each Boeing Supplier of the Year has delivered impressive performance as our entire industry has worked together to provide stability in a challenging environment,” said William Ampofo of Boeing Global Services.
“They have done an outstanding job of maintaining our high standards – a focus on operational excellence, quality and reliability – which enable Boeing to continue to earn the trust of our stakeholders, customers and the flying public. “
Boeing said it works with nearly 11,000 active suppliers globally and spends about $37 billion on supplier payments each year.
Another Indian company, Rossell TechSys, has twice been named “Vendor of the Year” by Boeing in the past decade.
